How to make a passport photo at home
- Stand in front of a plain wall in the background colour your document requires, with even light on your face and no shadows.
- Ask someone to take the photo from about 1 to 2 metres away, at eye level, showing your head and shoulders.

Why some countries are switched off
Canada requires passport photos taken and printed by a commercial photographer, and Germany accepts only digital photos sent by certified studios. Photos made at home cannot meet those rules, so the tool explains this instead of producing a photo that would be refused.
