Free QR Code Generator
Create QR codes for websites, Wi-Fi, contacts and more. Add your colours and logo, then download.
100% Free. No Signup. No Watermark. Your information stays on your device.
1. What should your QR code do?
2. Enter your information
Your QR code will appear here.
What’s inside this QR code
Static QR code: your information is stored inside the code itself, so it never expires. If the website, number or details change, make a new QR code.
4. Download
PNG is best for most uses. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, ideal for printing.
This browser can’t save WebP files. Use PNG or JPG.
3. Design (optional)
A border of at least 4 dots helps phones find the code. Use less only if your design already has white space around it.
Logo (optional)
PNG, JPG or WebP. Your logo stays on your device. When a logo is added, the QR code automatically uses the highest error correction so it can still be scanned.
Scan a QR code
Use your camera or choose a photo or screenshot that contains a QR code. Scanning happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
QR code contents
Be careful: QR codes can lead to harmful websites. Check the full address above before you open it, and never enter passwords or payment details on a site you don’t trust.
How to generate a QR code for free
- Choose what your QR code should do: open a website, show text, join Wi-Fi, send an email, call, text, start a WhatsApp chat, save a contact, show a location or add an event.
- Enter the details. The QR code appears and updates as you type.
- Optionally pick colours, a dot and corner style, and add your logo.
- Choose a size and download your QR code as PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP.
Always scan the finished code with your own phone before you print or share it.
How to create a Wi-Fi QR code
Select Wi-Fi, type your network name exactly as it appears in the Wi-Fi list, enter the password and choose the security type (most home networks use WPA or WPA2). Download the code and place it where guests can see it. When they scan it with an iPhone or Android camera, their phone offers to join the network without typing the password.
How to add a logo to a QR code
Open Design, tap Add a logo and choose a PNG, JPG or WebP image. The logo is placed in the centre and the QR code switches to the highest error correction, which lets phones read the code even though the logo covers part of it. Keep the logo small: around 20% works well. The generator warns you if the logo gets too large to scan reliably. A logo with a transparent background looks cleanest.
How to download a QR code
Choose an image size: 1000 × 1000 pixels suits most uses, and 2000 × 2000 is good for print. Then tap PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP. Files are named after the type of code, for example website-qr-code.png or wifi-qr-code.png. For the sharpest print results, use SVG.
Are free QR codes permanent?
QR codes from this generator are static and do not expire. Your information is stored directly inside the code, with no tracking link, redirect or subscription in between, so the code keeps working for as long as the printed or digital image exists. The only thing that can stop a static code from being useful is a change at the destination, such as a website moving to a new address or a phone number being disconnected.
Free QR code scanner
Need to read a QR code? Use the scanner to read codes with your camera or from a photo or screenshot. It shows you exactly what the code contains, lets you copy it, and only opens a link if you choose to. Scanning happens on your device.
QR code generator frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. Creating and downloading QR codes is completely free. There is no signup, no subscription, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make.
Do my QR codes expire?
No. These are static QR codes: your information is stored inside the code itself, not on a server, so the code never stops working because of this tool. If the website, phone number or Wi-Fi password inside it changes, you will need to make a new code.
Is my information private?
Yes. QR codes are created inside your own browser. Your website addresses, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and logos are never sent to this website or anyone else, and nothing is stored.
Can I edit a QR code after I print it?
No. A static QR code cannot be changed after it is made, because the information is inside the code. Editable (dynamic) QR codes need a redirect service; this tool does not use one, which is why your codes have no subscription and no expiry.
Which format should I download?
PNG works almost everywhere. SVG is a vector format that stays sharp at any size, so it is best for printing on flyers, menus and signs. JPG is good for documents that do not support transparency, and WebP is a small file for websites.
How big should I print my QR code?
A good rule is at least 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) wide for short content, and larger for codes with lots of information. Make sure people can scan it from the distance they will be standing, and always test it with your phone before printing many copies.
Why won't my QR code scan?
The most common reasons are low contrast between the QR colour and background, a light-coloured code on a dark background, a logo that is too large, a missing white border, or printing too small. The generator warns you about these problems as you design.
Can I make a QR code for my Wi-Fi?
Yes. Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name and password, and download the code. Guests can join by scanning it with their phone camera. Your password stays on your device while you create it.
How do I scan a QR code without an app?
Open the QR Code Scanner, tap Scan with camera and allow camera access, then point your phone at the code. You can also choose a photo or screenshot that contains a QR code.
Is it safe to scan QR codes?
Most are, but QR codes can lead to harmful websites. This scanner never opens links automatically. It shows you the full address first, so you can decide whether to open it.
Why can't the scanner use my camera?
Camera scanning needs permission and a secure (https) page. If you blocked the camera, allow it in your browser settings, or use Scan an image with a photo of the code instead.

Are QR Codes Permanent?
Our generator creates static QR codes, which store the encoded information directly inside the QR code itself. A static QR code does not require an ongoing subscription to remain readable.
However, if a QR code points to a website that later changes or becomes unavailable, the destination may stop working. To change the information stored in a static QR code, generate a new code.
QR Code Security and Best Practices
Always test your QR code before printing or sharing it. Use clear colors with strong contrast, avoid covering important parts of the code with a large logo, and make sure the destination is correct.
When scanning unfamiliar QR codes, check the destination before opening a website or sharing personal information. You can learn more about QR code technology through the QR Code information website from DENSO WAVE.
