Free PDF Tools Online

100% Free PDF Tools — No Signup, No Watermark. Your Documents Stay on Your Device.

Free PDF tools that work in your browser

Merge, split, compress, convert, rotate and organize PDF files online without installing anything or creating an account. Pick a tool above, choose your file and download the result in seconds.

Unlike most online PDF services, these tools never upload your documents. Everything happens on your phone, tablet or computer, which makes them a safe choice for contracts, bank statements, school work and other private files.

How to merge PDF files online for free

  1. Open Merge PDF and choose two or more PDF files, or drag them onto the box.
  2. Put the files in the order you want with the up and down arrows. On a computer you can also drag them.
  3. Press Merge PDFs, then download your combined document.

Pages inside each PDF keep their original order and orientation. Bookmarks and fillable form fields from the original files are not carried over into the merged file.

How to split a PDF into pages or separate files

  1. Open Split PDF and choose your file. The tool shows how many pages it has.
  2. Pick what you want: extract certain pages into one PDF, save chosen pages as separate PDFs, split every page, or split into equal parts.
  3. Type page numbers such as 1-3, 5, 8-10 if needed. The tool checks them before it starts.
  4. Press Split PDF and download each file, or all of them in one ZIP file.

Typing 7- means page 7 to the last page. Page numbers that do not exist are flagged before anything is created.

How to reduce PDF file size

  1. Open Compress PDF and choose your file.
  2. Pick Low, Balanced or High compression. Balanced is a good start.
  3. Press Compress PDF. The tool shows the original size, the new size and how much you saved.

This tool shrinks the photos and scanned images inside your PDF. Text, links and vector drawings are not touched, so your text stays sharp and searchable. PDFs that are mostly text are often already small and may not shrink much; the tool will tell you honestly when that happens instead of giving you a file that is barely different.

How to convert JPG and PNG images to PDF

  1. Open JPG to PDF and choose one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images.
  2. Arrange them in the order you want. Each image becomes one page.
  3. Choose A4, Letter or the same size as the image, plus orientation and margins.
  4. Press Convert to PDF and download your document.

Images are fitted to the page without cropping or stretching. Photos taken sideways on a phone are turned the right way automatically.

How to convert PDF pages to JPG or PNG images

  1. Open PDF to JPG and choose your PDF.
  2. Convert all pages or type the pages you want.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG, the image quality and the resolution.
  4. Press Convert to images and download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.

150 dpi is good for sharing on screen. Choose 300 dpi for printing. Very large pages may be reduced on phones to stay within the device memory.

How to rotate PDF pages

  1. Open Rotate PDF and choose your file. You will see a preview of every page.
  2. Rotate single pages with the arrows under each page, or rotate every page at once.
  3. Press Save rotated PDF and download it.

Rotating keeps your text, links, bookmarks and form fields exactly as they were.

How to organize PDF pages

  1. Open Organize PDF and choose your file to see every page.
  2. Tick the pages you want to work with, then move, rotate, duplicate or delete them. On a computer you can also drag pages into place.
  3. Press Save organized PDF and download the new document.

Your original file is never changed. Bookmarks and fillable form fields are not carried over into the reorganized copy.

How to add page numbers to a PDF

  1. Open Add Page Numbers and choose your file.
  2. Pick top or bottom, left, centre or right, the first number, the style and the size.
  3. Choose to number every page, skip the cover page, or number only certain pages.
  4. Press Add page numbers and download your PDF.

Numbers are placed correctly even on pages that are turned sideways.

How to add a text watermark to a PDF

  1. Open Watermark PDF and choose your file.
  2. Type your watermark text, such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL.
  3. Set the size, transparency, angle, colour and position, and choose which pages get it.
  4. Press Add watermark and download your PDF.

The watermark is only what you type. This site never adds its own watermark to your documents.

How to view and edit PDF metadata

  1. Open PDF Metadata and choose your file.
  2. Read the title, author, subject, keywords, creating app, dates, page count and size.
  3. Change the title, author, subject or keywords if you like, then save a new copy.

Metadata is optional, so many PDFs leave some of these details empty. The tool tells you when a detail is not set.

How to open a PDF online

  1. Open PDF Reader & Viewer and tap Open PDF file, or drag a PDF onto the box.
  2. Your PDF appears straight away, fitted to the width of your screen.
  3. Scroll to read, or use the arrows and page box to jump to any page.

Nothing to install and no account needed. The PDF opens inside this page and is never uploaded. After using any other tool here, you can also tap Preview PDF to check the result before you download it.

How to zoom, search, print and download PDFs

Zoom: use the plus and minus buttons, or pinch with two fingers on a phone or tablet. On a computer, hold Ctrl and scroll. The fit button returns the page to the width of your screen.

Move between pages: scroll, tap the arrows, or type a page number and press Enter. The page list button shows small previews of every page.

Search: tap the magnifying glass, type a word and press Enter. Every match is highlighted; use the up and down arrows to step through them. Scanned PDFs that are only pictures of text cannot be searched.

Print and download: the print button prepares the pages and opens your device’s print options, including Save as PDF. The download button saves a copy of the file.

Private by design: your documents stay on your device

The toolkit uses trusted open-source libraries (PDF.js by Mozilla and pdf-lib) that run inside your web browser. When you choose a file, it is read directly from your device into the page. Nothing about it, not the contents, not the file name, is sent anywhere. Once the page has loaded, the tools keep working even if your internet connection drops.

Frequently asked questions

Are these PDF tools really free?

Yes. Every tool is free with no signup, no watermark, no daily limit and no payment.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. Your files are opened and processed inside your own browser, on your own device. They are never sent to this website or any other service.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit, but your device's memory sets a practical one. Most phones handle PDFs of tens of megabytes; computers can handle much larger files. If a file is too big, the tool shows a message instead of crashing.

Will my text still be searchable?

Yes. Merge, Split, Rotate, Organize, Page Numbers, Watermark, Metadata and Compress keep your text as real text. Only PDF to JPG turns pages into pictures, because that is what it is for.

Why did my PDF hardly get smaller?

Compression works by shrinking the images inside a PDF. If your PDF is mostly text, it is usually already small, and there is little to remove without damaging it. The tool tells you when this happens.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

Not yet. PDFs that need a password to open, or that block editing, cannot be changed here. Remove the protection in the app you used to create the PDF and try again. PDF to JPG and PDF Metadata can still read PDFs that only have editing restrictions.

Will editing affect a digital signature?

Yes. Any change to a signed PDF, including rotating or numbering pages, makes the existing digital signature invalid. This is true for every PDF editor.

Do these tools work on my phone?

Yes. They work in Chrome on Android, Safari on iPhone and iPad, and in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers.

Can I read a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?

Yes. The PDF Reader & Viewer opens PDFs directly in your browser, so you do not need Adobe Acrobat or any other app.

Can I check my PDF before downloading it?

Yes. After merging, splitting, compressing or editing a PDF, tap Preview PDF to read the finished file in the built-in viewer. Download it only when you are happy with it.

Why can't I search my PDF?

Search works on PDFs that contain real text. Scanned documents are pictures of pages, so there is no text to search unless the PDF was processed with text recognition (OCR).
