How the Uber Ride Training Game Works
The Training Game presents a sample ride offer with an estimated payout, total miles and total time. Make your decision before revealing the analysis.
Choose TAKE IT, MAYBE, or PASS. The tool then calculates the offer’s dollars per mile and estimated gross dollars per active hour.
The purpose is not to tell every driver which rides they must accept. Markets, traffic, vehicle expenses and destinations are different. The game is designed to help drivers practice evaluating offers instead of looking only at the payout displayed on the screen.
How to Use the Uber Ride Analyzer
Switch from Training Game to Ride Analyzer and enter three numbers:
- Offer: The amount being offered for the ride.
- Total miles: Include pickup miles and trip miles.
- Total minutes: Include pickup time and estimated trip time.
Press CHECK THIS RIDE to see the estimated dollars per mile and gross dollars per active hour.
For example, an offer of $32.55 for 15 total miles and 25 total minutes works out to approximately $2.17 per mile and $78.12 per active hour before expenses.
What Makes an Uber Ride Worth Taking?
There isn’t one number that makes every Uber ride good.
A high-paying offer can still involve too many miles. A ride with excellent dollars per mile can take too long because of traffic or pickup time. The destination can also matter if it leaves you far away from areas where you are likely to receive another worthwhile request.
That’s why I look at both money and time rather than judging an offer only by the dollar amount displayed on the screen.

Dollars Per Mile vs. Dollars Per Hour
Dollars per mile helps show how much driving is required for the offered fare. More miles generally mean more fuel use, maintenance and vehicle wear.
Gross dollars per active hour shows how the offer compares with the amount of active time required to complete it.
Neither figure represents your final take-home profit. Vehicle expenses, tolls, waiting time, taxes and unpaid driving between trips can reduce actual earnings.
Should I Take This Uber Ride?
That decision depends on more than the amount displayed on the offer screen. Before accepting a ride, experienced drivers may consider the total mileage, estimated time, pickup distance, traffic, destination and the possibility of getting another ride near the drop-off location.
